A rare pure white swallow was hatched at villager's home in Xingping, Shaanxi Province, which attracted many villagers to come and watch.

The swallow had white plumage, long pointed wings, a forked tail, lying quietly in its nest.

The villager named Yang Yali said to Shaanxi TV: ”There are three nests in my house, and one of the five swallows hatched this time turns out to be purely white." Yang Yali added that swallows come back in February every year to produce a few nests but it was the first time for them to see a white swallow.

According to a staff member at the Xingping Forestry Station, the white swallow was a rare case and it was possible that the bird had a genetic mutation called "albinism" that caused its feathers to turn white. The probability of this happening was very small, only one in 10,000. Albino birds are difficult to breed and its survival rate is not high, but so far this swallow was alive and well.

The video was filmed on May 30 and provided by local media with permission.
