This is the moment a deadly blast hit a bus stop in Myanmar, leaving at least two people dead.

Security footage shows pedestrians covering their ears and fleeing in terror as a bomb exploded in the busy walkway in downtown Yangon on June 1.

Myanmar military spokesperson Zaw Min Tun said at least two people were killed while seven more were wounded.

He has accused opposition forces of planting the explosive - a claim the Myanmar's government in exile has denied. The shadow National Unity Government has likewise blamed the military for the blast.

A separate explosion also struck an education office in Shan State in eastern Myanmar on the same day.

Fighting between the armed militias and the Burmese military has intensified amid the political turmoil in Myanmar caused by the ousting of former leader Aung San Suu Kyi in February 2021.

Around the country, thousands of civilians are said to have been killed during military crackdowns on protests.

Military chiefs are now planning to execute arrested opposition leaders, including a former member of Aung San Suu Kyi's party and a prominent democracy activist.

Junta spokesman Zaw Min Tun said those 'who were sentenced to death will be hanged according to prison procedures'.
