Pakistani businessman calls for help after being 'attacked with knife by angry mother-in-law in Thailand'
A Pakistani man called for help after he was allegedly attacked with a knife by his angry mother-in-law.
Mohammad Akhter, 38, was bleeding when he pulled over and fell off his motorbike in front of a local rescue foundation's office in Pattaya city, Chonburi province, Thailand, on May 28.
The ex-pat businessman claimed that he fled their home when his mother-in-law, 60, stabbed him with a kitchen knife after he slapped his wife in the face for going home late.
He was rushed to the Bang Lamung Hospital where a 10cm-long stab wound was stitched up.
Nong Prue Police Station Superintendent Police Colonel Damrong Aiampairot said: ‘We will question the woman about the allegation while waiting for Mohammad to be discharged from the hospital.'
Speaking with the police at the hospital, Mohammad said that he had an argument with his wife during the night he was attacked.
He said: ‘I was arguing with mine that night. She came home late and I felt she was cheating on me so I slapped her just one time.
‘She told her mother about it and the old woman later came to stab me in the back with a kitchen knife.'
Investigations on the incident are ongoing.
Police Colonel Damrong Aiampairot added: 'From the initial questioning of the people involved, it seemed to be a domestic dispute with three people. All of them were emotional so we have to hear all of their explanations to find a solution.'
