An idiotic zoo visitor who jumped over a fence to record himself taunting an orangutan was attacked by the angry creature.

Hasanal Arifin, 19, went inside the monkey enclosure to supposedly capture a ‘funny' moment with a confined primate in Kasang Kulim Zoo, Riau province, Indonesia, on Monday, June 6.

However, the furious orangutan appeared to have become agitated when the young lad held out his arms towards the cage.

Footage shows Hasanal quickly pulling his hand away as the creature suddenly reached out to him. The furious orangutan tried to pull Hasanal inside the cage before an onlooker helped.

Staff were alerted to the incident and Hasanal was kicked out of the attraction. Outraged Zoo manager Ides condemned the behaviour.

He said: ‘The visitor wanted to take a video, create content without permission. He crossed the safety distance barrier.

'This was idiotic, stupid behaviour. It also put himself and others in great danger. I have reminded staff to ensure that no visitors have the chance to do this again.'

The guest reportedly went inside the enclosure while the staff were on a lunch break to film a video.

However, while doing the ‘prank,' the orangutan caught his shirt and pulled him in until his legs were locked in the monkey's tight grip.

Another man rescued him from the orangutan while staff arrived at the area and calmed the creature down. Hasanal was unhurt from the incident.

Meanwhile, the zoo manager reminded visitors to take the rules seriously.

He said: ‘This is very dangerous and violates the rules. We have already reprimanded the man. Please take the rules seriously.'
