A huge wild monitor lizard was caught in a family's home in Thailand.

The giant reptile wandered into a villager's house in Phitsanulok province on May 18, prompting the homeowner to call rescuers to remove it.

Volunteer Nadech Moedda, 39, battled to catch the beast, which had gone into hiding after the homeowner's pet dogs chased it away. He found it lurking near a washing machine and covered its face with a cloth to disorient it.

As the lizard wedged itself between the appliances, Nadech quickly grabbed its head and subdued it before tying its legs and mouth up with some more cloth.

The creature reportedly measured around 6-ft long and weighed roughly 50 kilograms. The rescuer placed it inside his vehicle and later released it into a protected wildlife area in the province.
