Mourners attended the funeral of 27-year-old Palestinian Mahmud Fayez Abu Ayhour on Thursday 9 June, the same day he was killed by Israeli security forces in the West Bank city of Hebron.

He was shot in Halhul town, north of Hebron, according to a statement issued by the local Palesetinian Health Ministry.

The statement said that Mahmoud Fayez Abu Ayhour, 27, succumbed to wounds sustained when being shot by Israeli soldiers during confrontations in the southern West Bank town.

The statement added that “the bullet penetrated Abu Aihoor’s abdomen, diaphragm and aorta, and all the attempts by the medical staff to save his life did not succeed.”

The confrontations erupted when a sizeable Israeli military force stormed the town, blocked off the main street, and closed down a local money exchange shop.

During the raid they fired bullets, tear gas, and concussion grenades, resulting in three live-fire injuries and two rubber-coated bullet injuries.

All the casualties were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
