Jacob Strickling, the 'Mad Scientist', Aussie Larrikin from Down Under (Sydney, Australia) , famous for his whale whisperer video, is at it again, much to his wife's despair.
Every night, he puts a huge 10 litre plastic bottle of water in the freezer, and the following morning, he places this ice brick in the bottom of the refrigerator. By the evening, it has melted, and he puts it back in the freezer to re-freeze?
Why would he do something seemingly so crazy? To save money is why! Jacob knows that electricity prices in the middle of the night are much lower then daytime prices. The refrigerator uses cheap electricity at night to freeze the water, which then saves the refrigerator from using expensive electricity during the day, as the ice brick keeps the food cold!
Jacob claims he has cut his electricity bill by 10% using this crazy, but innovative method. Unfortunately, for some reason his wife doesn't seem so keen on the idea!
