Reports of a boy falling into a borewell in central India's Chhattisgarh has emerged.

The incident happened in the Pihrid village in Malkharoda on June 10.

Visuals showed huge JCB cranes being used to dig up the ground in an attempt to open up the borewell where the child is trapped.

Food and oxygen cylinders were also prepared for them to be lowered into the borewell so that the child could survive while being trapped in it.

Footage from a digital camera showed the trapped boy with his face all covered up in the mud. His eyes seemed droopy, possibly due to exhaustion as he reached out for help.

The rescue operation is still ongoing with the district administration trying their best to save the child.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams from Cuttack and Bilaspur have already left for the place to aid in the rescue mission. The district administration is doing their best in order to have the child rescued.
