A chick was rescued after it managed to burrow into a car's glove compartment in Bukittinggi, Indonesia.

Captain Amri Zal, a soldier, was transporting a group of chicks in a cage in his car. When he arrived he found one of the birds was missing.

"I thought the chick was left at home, but when I sat in the driver's seat and was about to start the engine, I heard a faint sound. I looked under the seat and it wasn't there, and when I opened the dashboard to find that the chick was inside,” Amri Zal added.

Amri Zal had some help to rescue the chick that had managed to find its way into the vehicle's dashboard.

A chick was rescued after being trapped inside the dashboard of a car in Indonesia.

Footage filmed in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra Province, this Saturday night (June 4th), shows several men trying to get a chick out of the dashboard of a soldier's car.

Captain Amri Zal, the soldier, said he initially carried a cage containing chicks in the back passenger seat of his car.

Arriving at the destination, Zal was shocked when he didn’t see the chicks in the cage.

"I thought the chick was left at home, but when I sat in the driver's seat and was about to start the engine, I heard a faint sound. I looked under the seat and it wasn't there, and when I opened the dashboard to find that the chick was inside,” Amri Zal added.

Captain Zal suspected the chick had gotten into the dash before they had departed a few hours earlier. Zal then asked for help to get the trapped chick out.

Attempts to remove the chicks from the gap above failed, but then succeeded after the rescuer reached out from under the dashboard to catch the chick.
