A traffic camera in northern India has captured the dramatic moment a police officer rescued a child who fell into the road from an auto-rickshaw.

The video, which was filmed in Kashipur city in Uttrakhand on June 11, shows the vehicle turning left at a busy junction when the youngster falls into the road.

A police officer directing traffic immediately spots the incident, stop oncoming cars and lifts the child to safety.

An alert traffic police officer saved the life of a child who fell from an electric auto in northern India's Uttrakhand.

The incident took place in Cheema Chowk in Kashipur city of the Udham Singh Nagar district.

Speaking to Newslions, Rakesh Bisht, CPU Rudrapur, Uttrakhand, said that the incident took place on June 11.

Visuals showed an electric auto taking a left turn on a busy road when suddenly a child fell from the vehicle. A bus that was approaching the vehicle from behind, applied brakes at the right time after seeing the child fall on the road.

The auto too stopped while the policeman, identified as traffic constable Sunder Lal, rushed and picked the child up.

A woman, presumably the guardian of the child, was seen coming out of the auto and taking the child from the cop. She then moved back into the auto.
