Attempts to rescue a boy who fell into an 80 feet borewell in central India's Chattisgarh is still ongoing for about 26 hours.

The incident initially happened in the Pihrid village in Malkharoda tehsil, Jahangir-Champa district on June 10.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are carrying out the rescue mission. Some experts from the Indian army are also present.
A pipe is being used to provide oxygen to the trapped child, identified as Rahul Sahu.

Earlier visuals showed huge JCB bulldozers being used to dig up the ground in an attempt to open up the 80 feet borewell where the 11-year-old is trapped. With the excavation work completed, a tunnel is reportedly being built to rescue Rahul. Also, a robot has been brought from Gujarat and it would now be part of the rescue operation.

Footage from a digital camera showed the trapped boy with his face all covered up in mud. His eyes seemed droopy, possibly due to exhaustion as he reached out for help.

Videos have also emerged of Rahul's mother calling out to him using a microphone. He reportedly reacted by shaking his hands and head as she tried to motivate him morally.

His situation is continuously being monitored on a screen. He also ate bananas twice, according to collector Dr. Jitendra Shukla.

The rescue operation is still going on with the administration trying their best to save the child. Prayers were also offered for the boy's rescue, at a temple by a politician named Dr. Chauleshwar Chandrakar.
