Burmese farmers are killing off their cabbage crops due to tiny profit margins.

Footage shows a worker chopping up his harvest in Shan state's Danu self-administered zone on May 22.

Cabbages are said to be the main agricultural product in the region, but heartbroken farmers are opting to destroy them instead as their earnings are not enough to cover the crop's production and delivery costs.

Each cabbage would net them only 80-100 kyats, despite the vegetable selling for upwards of 1,000 kyats in Yangon, Myanmar's largest city.

Donating them is also out of the question because the farmers also reportedly cannot afford the transportation expenses.
