Two police officers were sucked into a 2-metre-long drainage culvert by floodwater when transferring residents in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Heyuan in Guangdong Province on June 13 shows a police officer named Huang Weisen being washed into a drainage culvert.

After he came out of the drainage culvert, he grabbed a section of the water pipe to stop himself from being washed away. Another police helped bring him back to safety.

According to reports, another police officer named Gan Min was also washed away by the floodwater and grabbed driftwood to swim to the shore.

Huang and Gan both suffered injuries.

Around 488 residents have been transferred to a safer area successfully.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
