Huge python caught in market stall roof in Indonesia
A huge python was caught in a market stall roof in Indonesia.
The gigantic snake was spotted hiding on the roof of a market building in Jakarta's Cengkareng District on June 12.
A terrified vendor who saw the reptile slithering among the pieces of galvanised iron immediately called officers to remove it.
Nurfathoni, a member of the Cengkareng Fire and Evacuation Department, said: 'After receiving the report, we immediately went to the location. Evacuation started at around 02.00 pm (local time).'
The rescue operation reportedly took a while because the python, despite its size, managed to hide in an inaccessible gap in the building's walls.
Officers had to prise apart the boarded-up wooden planks and iron sheets to reach it. They finally pulled it out after an hour.
The python measured four feet long and has been handed over to the Jakarta Animal Conservation and Rescue, Nurfathoni said.
