Two Indian tourists died in a horror motorcycle crash on a notorious Thai island.

Vinay Dutt Kaushik, 35, and Dhruv Tripathi, 34, rented a Honda Click scooter to cruise the area together on Koh Samui island in Surat Thani province on June 12.

The holidaymakers - staying on the same island where cricketer Shane Warne died - reached a steep part of the mountain road but crashed when they lost control on their way down the curved road.

Locals who heard the smash found the two holidaymakers unresponsive. They contacted the police and ambulance service but paramedics confirmed the two men died at the scene due to severe injuries including broken necks multiple fractures.

Koh Samui Police Station officer Police Colonel Pongkajorn Sukkasang said: ‘That road was dangerous, more so for foreigners who do not know the area.

‘We found the bodies on the other side of the road fence. There were also blood marks on the motorcycle.'

Police Colonel Pongkajorn added that road signs and warnings were placed in the area so tourists were especially cautioned about exploring on their own.

He said: 'There were road signs and warnings to let people know to be careful. Tourists were cautioned about exploring the unique geographic features of the island.'

A bag containing the credit cards and identification of the foreigners was found on the scene. They were found to be staying at the Maenam Hill Village hotel and were on the second day of their holiday when the incident happened. They were supposed to fly back home to India on June 25.

The tourists' bodies were taken to Koh Samui Hospital for post-mortem examinations while the Indian Embassy have been informed of the incident.

Just last month, a Romanian tourist, Nane-Iosana Bodea, 23, died in the same island when she hit her head on a rock after slipping on a waterfall while taking a selfie.

She was the third to die in the same waterfall after a Spanish and a French tourists were also killed in a span of three years.
