This is the adorable moment a wild bear scratched its back against wire mesh covering a tree in Japan.

The brown bear relieved its itchy fur by rubbing itself on the bark of a tree in the Fuji Wildlife Park in Shizuoka, Japan on May 25.

Footage shows how the animal was wriggling in bliss as it writhed against the rough surface.

Fuji Wildlife park said the tree had been covered with layers of iron mesh to prevent the creature from sharpening its claws. However, the mesh became the bear's new favourite scratching tool.
