Huge queues formed at petrol stations in Sri Lanka today (June 15) amid fuel shortages.

The government has restricted the distribution of diesel and petrol meaning some stations have had no fuel for eight days.

This footage shows the scene at a petrol station in Melsiripura today (June 15) where, according to the filmer, customers have been waiting "day and night" to fill up for more than a week

The people are under severe pressure due to the severe oil shortage that has affected Sri Lanka. The government has restricted the distribution of fuel and in some places only issues petrol at interest. The Bowser Owners' Association says that only 30 bowsers have been used to distribute fuel yesterday and about 300 bowsers a day. Diesel and petrol have not been received at the Melsiripura petrol station for 8 days and people are still waiting day and night to get petrol at the filling station.
