Video of an aircraft being struck by lightning and showering sparks
On the 20/5/22 there was a lightning storm in Wellington New Zealand. We live near Wellington airport on the south coast. I saw a very bright lightning strike while sitting in our lounge and noticed it was very close to an aicraft that had just taken off from the airport. I reviewed our house security camera which faces in that direction and was very surprised to see it captured a lightning strike on the aircraft leaving a trail of sparks behind it ! There is some minor distortion as the camera is behind a window and rain falling.
