A woman got bit by a snake while asleep in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place in Belai village in the Sagar district.

Visuals shot on June 13 showed a man moving around a black snake in an attempt to pacify it. He had a plastic bottle in his hand which he was using to grab the snake's attention. He was tapping the bottle and moving his hand continuously.

He later used his hat to do the same. After a while, he gently put his hand on the snake's hood from behind and pinned its head on the ground which helped him grab the reptile's neck and mouth so that it couldn't bite anymore. He then put the snake inside a plastic bottle.

According to reports, the victim, Asharani Khagar was sleeping in her house when she was bitten by the black snake Sunday night. With the help of villagers and newly elected village head Nasir Khan, Khagar was brought to the Community Health Center in Garhakota where the doctor declared her dead.

The reptile was subsequently rescued by the Forest Department and snake catcher Aqeel Baba and was released into the forest the next day. The fear of these cobra snakes have continued to grow among the villagers after this incident.

The information about the incident was also given to Public Welfare Minister Gopal Bhargava to whom he assured the victim's family immediate assistance and Rs 4 lakhs (USD 5124.92) from the government.
