American swings METAL PIPE at taxi driver during road rage fight in the Philippines
This is the moment an American was seen swinging a metal pipe at a taxi driver during a road rage fight in the Philippines.
The ex-pat, who has not been identified, was driving along a busy road when he reportedly had a near-miss with the jeepney vehicle in Davao City on June 9.
During the heated argument, the American allegedly punched the jeepney's side mirror which infuriated the driver who then took out a metal pipe.
The brawl reportedly ensued when the local driver allegedly tried to hit the 6ft-tall ex-pat with the pipe but failed. The American then grabbed the metal from the local and chased him with it.
Shocked onlooker Jayson Tabling said: ‘They were both very angry. They could have hurt each other seriously if the firemen had not arrived on time.'
The ex-pat had to be restrained by at least two fire Marshalls, including a woman who came down with him from his white SUV. He resisted the firemen and tried chasing the driver that had since retreated when authorities came.
The local driver also tried to sneak some blows to the American but he was stopped by the other officers.
Both drivers eventually agreed to talk as more firemen stopped them from coming at each other.
After discussing with the firemen, the American and the local jeepney driver decided to settle the issue with village officers. Both parties were unhurt after the altercation.
Earlier that day, the hot-headed American was reportedly caught in a separate vehicular accident after allegedly hitting a sedan from behind.
Jeepneys are a common sight in the streets of the Philippines, where they are used to transport locals. The first Jeepneys are remnants of the Willys Jeeps that American soldiers left in the country at the end of World War II which locals modified to be used in public transportation.
