Demonstrators in northern India today (June 16) set a train on fire in protest at an army recruitment scheme.

The incident happened at the Chhapra junction in the Saran district of Bihar state.

According to local media, members of the public were furious at a new short-term induction scheme into the armed forces.

According to a report, this was against the new army recruitment scheme titled, 'Agnipath' which was for short-term induction of personnel in the forces.

Not just this but protests also broke out in different regions of the state namely, the Bhagalpur, Arwal, Buxar, Gaya, Munger, Nawada, Saharsa, Siwan, and Aurangabad districts. Some of these protests included stone pelting and also vandalizing vehicles.
