This Buzkashi competition was held on February 20, 2022 in Kunduz province in Buzkashi Square. Many participants had participated in this competition.
Afghanistan's national sport, buzkashi, has been played in some form or another for almost 600 years and is dangerously fast and physically demanding. The focus is drawn to the dead goat in the middle, not to the rest of the scene.
This traditional game is similar to polo in that it is played on horseback, but instead of a ball, players navigate a headless goat carcass about the playing area. The Persian word buzkashi (pronounced 'booz-ka-shee') literally means 'goat tugging.' While it is Afghanistan's national sport, variations of the game have spread across Central Asia and been embraced by a variety of ethnic groups, including Kazakhs, Tajiks, and Kyrgyz.
