An explosion at a chemical factory in northwestern China injured eight people and six others have been reported missing.

Video filmed in the city of Lanzhou in Gansu Province on June 16 shows a plume of smoke rising into the air.

Forty-seven fire engines and more than 300 firefighters were deployed to combat the blaze.

Eight injured people have been sent to hospital for treatment and their vital signs were all stable.

According to local reports, the explosion happened at the sewage treatment department.

6月16日18时58分，位于甘肃省兰州市的兰州新区秦川精细化工园区一企业发生爆炸，事故已造成8人受伤6人失联。据悉，兰州新区应急部门已调动47辆消防救援车辆、300余名消防救援人员参与救援，8名受伤人员已送往兰州新区第一人民医院救治，目前生命体征平稳。
据了解，事发企业主要从事农药中间体及农药产品生产、经营，发生爆炸厂区为该企业污水处理车间。经初步排查，爆炸面积约600平方米，事故现场无烟、无明火、无有毒气体，排除了后续险情和次生灾害风险。（视频由甘肃台提供）
