A labourer died after being trapped under the debris from a landslide in northeastern India's Sikkim.
The incident happened on June 14 at 17th Mile JN Road under Sherethang police station in East Sikkim.
Army personnel from the 36th regiment had jumped to action to rescue eight people, who were trapped under the debris of a landslide. According to a report, some labourers were trapped in the landslide that took place at an area called the AG Construction Company Area (mess room).
The one that succumbed to injuries, has been identified as Kalu Tamang. The 35-year-old is a resident of Bhalukpong in Arunachal Pradesh. Two others, who have been rescued, are being treated at the STNM hospital in Sikkim.
A police report also claims that the labourers were taken from the affected areas to a new location.
The labourer's dead body has been sent for autopsy and an investigation is being carried out. The witnesses were examined and their statements recorded.
