Two Palestinians engineers were able to produce a safe bio organic fertilizer, called wood vinegar, using agricultural residues in Beit Lahiya town in the northern Gaza Strip. Mohsen Ahmed and his colleague Amna Al-Afifi said they invented a device for extracting the fertilizer by collecting and burning tree wastes in a metal container.

The engineers added the method also helps increase sugars in different types of fruit and solve environmental problems. Framers welcomed the idea of wood vinegar production since it is free of carcinogenic substances. Wood vinegar is a dark liquid produced throughout the natural act of carbonization which occurs when the wood is heated in an airless container during charcoal productions
