This is the dramatic moment a reptile lover removed cobra from their nests in residential areas in Indonesia.

The large snake shocked locals when it emerged from the bushes and came to the yard of a house in Agam West Sumatra province on June 16.

Shocked house owner Yensil, 58, contacted the reptile specialists to have the deadly snake catched.

Video shows the Animal Rescue Team from Bukittinggi Fire Department with BR-Rescue Reptile Lovers looking for snakes in the bushes opposite the complainant's house.

Reptile lover, Syawal Waldi can be seen removing a cobra from its nest and dragging an 8.5ft-long reptile into the spacious yard of the house.

During the five minutes before being subdued, the king cobra tried to lunge at Waldi several times until its head was caught.

According to Waldi, the cobra is thought to have been sunbathing after preying on mice, but returned to the bush when it saw man.

"This area is a newly built housing complex, so we had to catch the snake to make sure it could hurt anybody. It will be released in an area suited for its habitat," Waldi added.

The king cobra were put in sacks and then taken to the BR-Rescue secretariat for observation before released into their habitat.
