A group of 11 tourists were left stranded in mid-air after their cable car became stuck in Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh.

Footage from June 20 shows crowds tensely watching on as the tourists were slowly lowered down to the ground by a long rope.

Among the stranded group were elderly persons and some children who weren't able to be evacuated via rope.

Police and firefighters are working together to rescue the remaining tourists.

The cable car suffered from a technical fault resulting in the car stopping above a deep ravine.

As many as 11 tourists were left stranded after a cable car they were in, got stuck mid-air in northern India's Himachal Pradesh.

The incident happened on June 20 at the Parwanoo Timber Trail in Solan.

Visuals show the cable car stranded mid-air. One of the tourists was seen being lowered down steadily using a rope. In another video, a second cable car is seen being used for rescuing the tourists. It was learnt that among the tourists were some elderly ones and children, who couldn't get down using the rope. They have been stranded for more than one hour.
