This is the amusing moment playful lads enjoyed splashing on a flooded road but scrambled when lightning struck.

Footage shows a youngster pushing his friends across the deluge on a basin in Surat Thani province, Thailand on June 9.

The duo were having fun until a loud clap of thunder was heard followed by blinding lightning and ran towards a shop to take refuge.

One of the lads Kittipong Janrom who was seen pushing the basin said: ‘It was so scary but my friend still pulled the basin with him. He really knew his priorities.'

His friend stubbed a toe but was not seriously hurt from the incident.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are at the start of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which last until late November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
