Starving pet dogs were given food by strangers after being abandoned inside an empty house for days.

The two pooches could be heard crying inside the gated property when neighbours realised they were alone in Paranaque City, the Philippines on April 16.

To keep the dogs alive, a kind neighbour decided to bring food and water to them regularly.

Footage shows the pet lover shoving a tray of food inside the locked gate. The dogs then excitedly ate their meals.

Good Samaritan Edz Bullecer said: 'We don't want to judge the pet owners. Maybe they had an emergency. For now, we just want to keep the dogs fed until their owner returns.'

The pet owner later reportedly returned to the property and their dogs were healthy, thanks to the help of neighbours. However, it was unclear why they had been away for almost a week.
