Street hawker dodges out-of-control truck barreling across road in Thailand
This is the heartstopping moment a hawker dodged an out-of-control truck barreling across the road in Thailand.
The flower seller was offering her wares to drivers stuck in traffic when the large vehicle swerved towards her as it crossed the median lane in Buriram province on May 28.
Footage shows the trailer truck making a sharp turn to avoid crashing into the cars in front of it, which had slowed down for a red traffic light.
The truck then slammed into the car of Nirun Chaeung, 41, who was driving on the opposite lane to drop his father-in-law off at a hospital. The truck also reportedly hit four other cars but did not cause any injuries.
Nirun said the damage his car suffered will be taken care of by insurance.
Meanwhile, the shaken vendor said: 'I heard a loud screeching so I turned my head. The moment I looked, I saw the huge truck hitting the bush and the road barrier. It must have been the Buddhist necklace I wore that saved my life.
‘I have been selling flowers, peanuts, and mangoes on this road for five years and nothing like this has ever happened before. This should be an example for other people to be more careful.'
Police questioned the truck driver who blamed the vehicle's brakes. However, the driver reportedly admitted he had sped up while trying to beat the red light without noticing the cars in front of him slowing down.
