A crane collapsed onto a row of homes injuring two people in Thailand.

The construction equipment was lifting a cement bucket to pour over the beams of a house being built in Songkhla province on June 20, but tilted forward when it could not support the weight of the load.

The crane tipped over before slamming into the unfinished structure and hitting an electric post. The tip of its boom also demolished the roof of a nearby occupied house made of wood and cement.

A construction worker and a female resident were injured.

Sarina Mhanbenmhad, 22, daughter of the homeowner, said: 'I woke up with a fright when the crane crashed onto the house so I quickly ran outside, but I fell on the ground and was injured.'

She added she considered herself lucky that the crane only struck the empty bedroom directly above where she slept.

Her mother, Usamas Mhanbenmhad, 53, said: 'We had to move out and live in a rented house while waiting for the construction firm to fix our home.'

The debris, overturned crane, and damaged electric post were cleared from the scene.

Meanwhile, the construction company has reportedly accepted responsibility for the accident and will cover the costs for repairs.
