A terrified girlfriend jumped away in fear after finding a baby cobra under her duvet.

Apasiri Laojampa was watching her favourite TV series with her boyfriend alongside her when she picked up her blanket in Bangkok, Thailand on June 21.

The girlfriend looked down and saw the aggressive 1ft-long reptile rearing up at her. Apasiri then pulled away in panic towards her companion.

She said: 'I believe the snake slithered up from the toilet drain. Luckily my boyfriend was present when it all happened, he also helped me get rid of the snake.'

The couple called their neighbours for help and were able to turn over the creature to the local wildlife department. No one was hurt in the incident including the snake.

Despite its size, the baby cobra would have been carrying enough venom to kill an adult. The species is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths a year across Southeast Asia and India.
