Powerful gusts of wind flipped the baskets of a Ferris wheel in Cambodia.

Video shows how the gales spun the gondolas around like blades of a windmill at the top of the amusement park ride in Siem Reap on June 21.

The baskets could be heard clanging as they rotated clockwise and counterclockwise on their axes. There were no injuries as the Ferris wheel was empty at the time.

Onlooker Kheng Ra said: 'It looked very scary. Luckily there was nobody on top.'

The Ferris wheel, called the Angkor Eye, is the largest in Cambodia. It is 279ft high (85 metres) with 48 baskets that can accommodate up to 192 people.

It weighs more than 700 tons and was designed and installed by Japanese engineers working with the region's Department of Tourism.
