Brave cop saves man who slipped while boarding train in western India
An alert cop saved the life of a man who slipped while boarding a train in western India's Maharashtra.
The rescue took place at the Shivaji Nagar Railway Station in the Pune district on June 22.
Visuals showed an elderly man trying to board a moving train slipping and getting dragged for a few meters. The alert cop who was sitting on the platform rushed toward the victim and pulled him away from the train. A few other people present at the platform also rushed towards the elderly man.
Speaking to Newslions, Railway Protection Force Assistant Sub-Inspector Ratan Singh said that the person tried to board the said moving train but due to his foot slipping from the door, he got badly stuck between the vehicle and the platform. The train was slowly picking up its speed, due to which the person got dragged for a few meters.
He was patrolling the platform when the incident happened and caught sight of the man trapped between the train and the platform. Without a moment's delay, he ran towards the person and with all his courage and intelligence, was able to pull him out by his hand from the gap between the train and the platform.
After that, he said that he brought the man to the RPF post where he was given first aid. During interrogation, the person revealed his name to be Ravikant Neminath Dhole, a 60-year-old who is a resident of the MIDC area in Sangli. He said that he has not been able to sleep properly for the last two nights. Due to this, he fell asleep on the platform itself while waiting for the train at the station. He was travelling from Shivaji Nagar to Miraj.
When the train started leaving the platform, he woke up and panicked as he tried to board the moving vehicle. Expressing gratitude to Sub-Inspector Shri Ratan Singh, he thanked the RPF department for saving his life.
