A dramatic video has emerged of people being rescued after a yacht ran aground on a reef in Jeju Province, South Korea earlier this month.

The footage, captured by a surfer, shows a local rescue team bringing the crew of the 'Shangri-La' yacht safely to shore near a harbour.

Writing online about the incident, the filmer said "This yacht was stuck outside the harbour, when the tide drop while she was out on a cruise.

"The swell was way bigger than normal with a Typhoon hitting the coast just the day prior. The skipper tried to take a gap in between sets, but hit the reef and lost a motor. A big set came and smashed her onto the rocks.

"Everybody was evacuated safely but the yacht was not so lucky."
