Residents of Assam in eastern India made the most of severe flooding affecting the state by fishing on an inundated highway.

Footage captured on June 26 showed the men casting their nets into the murky floodwaters.

More than 5 million people have been affected by flooding in 32 districts of the northeastern state.

As heavy rains continued to inundate parts of Assam, some locals chose to make good use of the submerged stretches of a busy highway. Footage filmed on 26th June showed locals laying fishing nets on a flooded street in the state highways as vehicular traffic remained halted due to the waterlogging.

The northeastern state has been witnessing incessant downpour over the past few weeks that has left over 5 million people affected in 32 districts.As many as 2,930 villages have been affected by the deluge, with 43,338 hectares of cropland under water and 410 animals getting washed away.
