A pedestrian plunged into a drain when the pavement slabs unexpectedly collapsed.

The food stall vendor was walking back to a nearby market when he stood on the faulty paving slabs in Rayong province, on June 22.

Shocking dash cam footage shows the worker's leg slipped through the hole in the pavement and struggled to pull himself up before walking away.

He then walked away seemingly unhurt. A driver who saw the incident reported it to local authorities for them to repair the pavement, which is next to a manhole cover.

The onlooker said: 'Footpaths here are the worst. It could seriously hurt people. Something must be done about it. We pay our taxes but the government never seems to fix anything.'

Thailand was ranked 110 out of 180 on Transparency International's 2021 Corruption Perception Index. Denmark, Finland and New Zealand were ranked joint first place while South Sudan was bottom.

One of the criteria for corruption is how public funds are spent.
