A two-year-old French boy needed 200 stitches and treatment for a broken jaw after being brutally attacked by a loose pet Rottweiler in Thailand.

The toddler and his four-year-old brother were walking in a neighbourhood with their nanny when they passed by a house with open gates in Pattaya City, Chonburi province on June 20.

Shockingly, a large black 'devil dog' came charging out of the house and lunged toward the boys' nanny who was seen pulling away from the creature.

As the dog attacked the woman, the boy was seen running towards her before the dog turned to maul him instead.

The pet owner's helper Somkiat, 67, said: ‘I heard someone scream. I rushed out of the house to see what was happening and saw the dog attacking the boy. I grabbed a metal stick to scare away the dog.'

Another neighbour Jet, 39, said: ‘The owner of this dog has to be very careful and make sure that it is on leash. It is such a violent dog.'

At least three adults had to pull away the 70kg pet dog before it stopped mauling the boy. He was then rushed to the hospital with wounds across his face and a broken jaw He was given 200 stitches at the Pattaya Hospital beofre being transferred to Bangkok because his wounds were too serious.

Police are now investigating the incident and questioned the house owner who reportedly claimed that they left the gate opened to take out the trash but ran outside when the boys and their nanny passed by.

Pattaya Police Station Police Colonel Kullachat Kullchai said: ‘We are still investigating the case and accusations against the owner. We have to wait for the boy's medical results yet before we can finalise the charges.'
