An elephant was rescued from a well in Ramgarh, Jharkhand, with the help of an excavator.

Footage from the early hours of June 26 morning shows the animal attempting to trudge out of the watery pit.

After rescue teams arrived, an excavator was used to dig a path of the well for the jumbo.

Once out of the well, the elephant made its way into a nearby forest in Sangrampur.

Elephant which fell into a narrow ditch in Jharkhand Ramnagar district was rescued by a forest department on morning hours of 26th June . The forest department team has to dig the area around the ditch , to make pavement for the elephant to rescue it out .
The incident happened at the tandil bisa village in ramnagar district of Jharkhand State .
According to local reports , elephant fell into ditch late night on Saturday, the elephant is said to be the part of a herd which was being followed by forest department. According to forest officials we realised that one elephant in the herd is missing when we searched we found it under the ditch .
We initially tried to rescue elephant busing bamboos ,but due to narrow space elephant was unable to move , so we called JCB and dig the area and made a pavement for it .
After several rounds of efforts elephant walks upwards by 6:30 am on Sunday morning .
The elephant sustained some injuries , the elephant was released toward the forest in sangrampur .
Villagers got gathered in large number to witness the rescue
