The T2 terminal of The Three Gorges International Airport was officially opened Wednesday, while the T1 terminal was closed for renovation and all flights were secured at the T2 terminal.

The second phase of the three Gorges Airport reconstruction and expansion project was approved on February 16, 2017, with a total investment of 2.37 billion yuan.

The construction mainly includes a terminal area, a flight area, an air traffic control project, a smart airport and traffic supporting works in front of the station, among which pile foundation construction of T2 terminal began in May 2020. When the second phase is completed, the total area of the three Gorges Airport terminal will be expanded to 73,800 square meters, with an annual passenger throughput of 5 million to 8 million.
