Cloud iridescence illuminates sky in the Philippines
Beautiful cloud iridescence illuminated the sky in the Philippines.
Footage shows the colourful formations glowing behind the clouds in Albay province on June 25.
Local Renz Ronda said the clouds were a sign of good things to come amid natural disasters that had struck their province in recent months.
He said: ‘It could be a sign of good things to come. We barely survive the pandemic and the volcano might erupt anytime so the cloud is a reminder that there's hope.'
Cloud iridescence, not to be confused with fire rainbows, forms when a humid layer of air above a low-lying cumulus cloud is pushed upwards. The air cools causing condensation and a cloud cap.
Sunlight then refracts through the water droplets in the cap on the cloud to create the dazzling multi-coloured effect.
