March to the Embassy of the United States for the revocation of the right to abortion. Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Militants and feminist collectives held a mobilization to the US Embassy in repudiation of the ruling of the Supreme Court of that country that repealed the right to abortion, which was legal since 1973.
What exactly is happening in the video is a mobilization of militants and feminist groups called by the National Campaign for the Right to Legal, Safe and Free Abortion, towards the United States Embassy. They concentrated on the La Rural building and from there they walked towards the embassy cutting off one of the hands of Av. Sarmiento. When they arrived at the Embassy there were songs about abortion and one of the demonstrators read the reasons for the demonstration and why at the Embassy of the United States, and at the end they all raised the green handkerchief that is identified with the demand for the right to "Pañuelazo Verde" abortion. After that, it lasted for another hour approximately only with songs about the claim and attending to the media that sought to interview both the leaders of the different organizations and the protesters.
Feminist militants and groups are involved, such as the National Campaign for the Right to Legal, Safe and Free Abortion, Juntas and the Left of the political space, the Socialist Workers Movement (MST), which is within the Left Front (FIT), the International League Socialist, Isadora Women in Struggle of the Independent Socialist Left, the women's organization of the Plenary of Workers of the Workers' Party, Las Rojas, among others. They were the reference of the Celeste Fierro national leader of the MST in the FIT Unit, the writer, television scriptwriter, playwright Claudia Piñeiro, the former National Deputy María José Lubertino, the activist for the right to legal, safe and free abortion Viviana Norman, the National Deputy for the Workers' Party, Romina Del Plá, among others. There were women of all ages.
It happened in the neighborhood of Palermo in the Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, the Federal Capital of the Republic. Specifically, they concentrated on the Rural in front of Plaza Italia on Av. Santa Fé and Av. Sarmiento, and walked along Av. Sarmiento to the United States Embassy.
It happened on Monday, June 27 between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The mobilization happened because feminist activists and groups repudiate the setback of the United States Court in Roe v. Wade. They expressed solidarity with the women comrades of that country and called on the nation states not to violate the autonomy of pregnant women. They claim that without the right to abortion there is no equality, freedom or democracy.
The mobilization was peaceful and the United States Embassy was fenced off and with a police presence.
