A bull was hoisted out of an 80-foot-deep well by locals in Karai, Madhya Pradesh, on June 27.

The bovine had fallen into the deep well and could only just keep its head above the water level.

Locals who spotted the animal in distress called the forest department to rescue the bull.

However, the villagers took matters into their own hands as the officials took a long time to reach the site.

A group of locals used ropes to hoist the stranded bull out of the deep well.

A bull fell into an 80-feet deep well in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident happened at the Karai village in Sagar district on June 27.

Visuals showed the bull almost completely submerged in the well, whose water level is said to be that of 20-feet. The animal stood still with minimal movement, occasionally grunting, which was explained the discomfort it was in.

Later, it was seen being pulled out of the well by the locals who used ropes and sticks to rescue the animal. According to the report, a local spotted the bull in the well and dialled 100, reaching out to the forest department for the animal's rescue.

But with the latter reportedly taking time to reach, locals took matters in their own hands. The animal's life would have been under threat if it remained stranded for too long inside the well.

Villagers started the rescue operation. A person entered the well and tied the bull with ropes.

The bovine was pulled out with the help of these ropes attached to three parts of its body. These ropes were seen balanced against a stick-like structure that resembled a pipe. The pipe was held by two men on either side, for it to remain still.

The locals were eventually successful in rescuing the animal. The bull was laid down after being brought out of the well. It looked exhausted and lifeless for a while after being rescued.
