A shop worker has broken the world record for having the world’s strongest finger.

Steve Keeler was able to deadlift 129.50kg (285.49lb) with just one digit.

The 48-year-old picked up six iron, weightlifting discs - the same weight as a three-seater sofa.

The martial arts expert, of Shepherdswell, near Dover, Kent said: "It’s incredibly painful.

“But my fingers are strong and I am proud of my lift.”

Steve was able to hold the weight for an incredible eight seconds for the successful record attempt in Ashford.

He realised he had the rare talent after doing karate as a teenager.

The retail manager discovered that his bare hands could break breezes blocks, and soon realized he had strong bones.

The previous record - held by Armenian Benik Israyelyan - had been held for 11 years.

He lifted 116.90kg (257.72lb).
