A brave pet French bulldog chased away a wild monitor lizard that scurried into the family property.

The one-year-old pooch named Ngokun spotted the lizard squeezing through their gates in Pathum Thani province, Thailand on June 27.

Ngokun then quickly ran to scare the reptile out of the property before the creature was seen scrambling away.

CCTV footage shows the pooch stopping the wildlife intruder from entering their home.

Proud pet owner Paweena Thongsuk said: ‘Our beloved dog is so tiny but he will fight with a wild animal to protect us, even though he could get hurt He is very brave and cute.'

The pet owner could be seen carrying the bulldog away to stop him from fighting with the lizard.

No one was hurt in the incident and the lizard disappeared back into a canal.

Monitor lizards are a common sight across Thailand including in the capital city Bangkok where they lived on canals and rivers. These reptiles are a protected species in the country so their population thrived. They were usually shy among humans but have fangs that could pierce through the skin and cause injuries.
