A freak storm left passengers stranded after pounding through a train station in the Philippines.

Footage shows heavy downpour packed with gusty winds battered the train station at Blumentritt, Manila on June 24.

The train had to delay unloading passengers due to the storm for almost 30 minutes, affecting the trips on other stations as well.

Some passengers who were waiting on the platform could only cower as they were soaked with rainwater.

Terrified passenger Dhadhee Chacha said: ‘We were scared and didn't know what to do. The train station staff were also confused about the heavy rain. Thank God no one was hurt.'

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.
