Models FINALLY ditch face masks to pose for pictures at Bangkok motor show
Models have finally ditched their face masks to pose for pictures with visitors at the motor show in Bangkok, Thailand.
The glamour girls, known locally as 'pretties', had been covered up since the pandemic spread in early 2000. But with falling cases and the diseases now becoming endemic, Thai government ministers ruled last month that face masks are no longer mandatory.
Footage taken today July 1 shows how models in hot pants and push-up tops have embraced the freedoms by throwing off their face coverings to pout and preen while promoting the latest modified cars.
The Bangkok Auto Salon showcases stunning customised and modified motors at the Impact Arena in the Nonthaburi district of the Thai capital every day until July 3. Many of the vehicles were built from scratch by petrol-heads but there were also brands including Honda and Mercedes in attendance displaying vehicles.
Despite the easing of restrictions, some of the models continued wearing face masks.
A survey from the country's Department of Health found that 94 per cent of Thai people said they would carry on wearing face masks in public. Only six per cent said they would ditch the environmentally harmful accessory.
The Public Health Ministry advised people to continue to wear masks in crowded or poorly ventilated places.
Officials said that vulnerable people, such as the elderly and those with underlying illnesses, should wear face masks while staying with others to reduce the risk of infection.
