Magnitude 6 earthquake rattles clothes shop in the northern Philippines

Dramatic CCTV footage shows the moment an earthquake struck a clothes shop in the northern Philippines in the early hours of Friday morning July 1.

The magnitude 6 earthquake struck at 2:40 a.m around 27 kilometers (16.77 miles) east of Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan. The GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said. reported the quake had a depth of around 10km (6.21 miles).

Tremors shook a clothes shop in the region belonging to Sienah Santos. He said: 'I was woken up by the whole building moving.'

There were no reported fatalities or major injuries.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
