Abandoned seven-day-old baby boy found at bus stop in Thailand

An abandoned seven-day-old baby boy was found alive at a bus stop in Thailand.

The newborn was laying on a concrete bench when he was spotted by a passing local in Samut Prakan province on June 30 evening.

He was wrapped in a blanket but mosquitos had apparently feasted on the infant's face as was covered in bite marks.

Local paramedics arrived and rushed the boy to Samut Prakan Hospital for a health check. Police are now searching for the infat's mother.

Police Colonel Phisut Chantarasuwan at Bang Poo Police Station said: ‘The baby was safe but had to remain under the doctor's care at the hospital.

‘We are identifying who left the baby at the bus stop by checking the CCTV in the vicinity.'

Rescue officer Suriya Sumada, who was one of the first who responded to the call, said a local who was riding a bicycle found the baby.

He said: ‘A boy who was riding a bicycle saw the baby. He was wearing a hat and covered in a blue towel. A bottle of milk was also placed on the flood.

‘The newborn had so many mosquito bites but apart from that he had no apparent injuries. We took him to the hospital for a thorough check.'

The boy's parents are still unidentified. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
