Resistance fighters drove over cases of beer believed to be owned by the Burmese military.

Members of the People's Defence Force recorded themselves using a truck to trample on boxes of the alcoholic beverage being transported around the Seikphyu township of the Magway region on July 1.

A similar incident occurred at a checkpoint in Shan State on June 21, where the People's Liberation Army confiscated and destroyed shipments of Dagon Beer on the spot.

Anti-army activists have reportedly been boycotting military-linked or owned products and services since the junta's coup.

The struggle between armed militias and the Burmese military has intensified amid the political turmoil in Myanmar caused by the ousting of well-liked former leader Aung San Suu Kyi in February 2021. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate has been held under house arrest and in jail ever since.

Around the country, thousands of civilians are said to have been murdered during military crackdowns on protests.
